I'm not sure how other people do it, and they probably do it in some way that is a lot more efficient than mine, probably.

But this is how i do them:

-i start by imagining the whole thing in my head (no, really?!?)
-then i draw all the frames individually (not individually, some you just have to copy and make slight changes) as layers in photoshop
-the i transfer the whole file to imageready, where i make the frames by just making the layer i want visible, and i animate them by setting the time i want each frame to be seen.

It's fairly simple, but as the animation becomes progressively longer and more complex, it's just not worth all the work that's put into it!

It's great fun though!
